About Me

I am a third-year journalism student with a passion for producing and telling stories. I am a hard-working professional with a drive to learn any and all skills in my field. I thrive in fast-paced environments, and believe there is always something to take away from every project. I face challenges head-on and find collaborating and learning from others especially rewarding.

I am pursuing my education at Appalachian State University, where I am currently a double-major in Communication Studies and Digital Journalism. I hope to continuously develop and polish my skills in all mediums of journalism, with a focus on broadcasting.

During my education, I have curated skills in developing scripts, pitching ideas, writing articles, and producing and editing packages for air. I have a sharp eye for detail and am passionate about producing the best work I possibly can, regardless of the medium.

I hold a passion for local news, as I believe it is the glue that holds communities together. During my Sophomore year of college, I experienced the firsthand devastation that Hurricane Helene had on my home and the other surrounding areas of western North Carolina. Coming from a family of 6th generation cattle-ranchers myself, I immediately recognized the unique challenges a natural disaster like Helene posed for farmers and other local artisans in the area and began covering their stories. Being able to connect with my community and tell the stories of those who felt underrepresented brought me more hands-on experience and inspiration than I could have ever imagined.

I am driven to connect with people, both inside and outside of my community, with a particular interest in the arts, culture, politics, and agriculture. There is a story to be told everywhere, and I am dedicated to finding it.
